Seeds were imported from Brazil. This tree is native to the savannahs and clean or dirty fields and in the transition from the Atlantic forest to the caatinga, occurring in Rondônia and in all states from Pará to São Paulo, northern Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Also appearing in the Bolivian and Paraguayan Chaco. It is a shrub 30 to 80 cm tall, growing with low lying branches. The fruits, despite being large, contain about 20 to 30% of translucent, sweet and refreshing pulp, involving the seeds. This can be consumed in natura or in the form of jellies or refreshing juices. The seeds produce a bitter medicinal oil that has yet to be studied. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
