Endemic species of highland semi- deciduous forest, occurring discontinuously and occasionally in the Paraná River basin in the state of São Paulo and northern Paraná, Brazil. The fruits have an acidic and bitter taste, not pleasing to all palates. The best way to consume it is in the form of sweets like guava. The tree is small, and very ornamental.
