Psidium Araucanum - ARAÇA-VERDE

$5.00
sold out

Seeds were imported from Brazil. ARAÇA-VERDE comes from the Tupi-Guarani language and means “Fruit that has eyes” because of the persistent sepals like eyelashes. It is also called Araçá from the araucaria forest , Araçá bitter, and Araçá de porco because wild pigs and tapirs are very fond of this fruit. It is a tree of 4 to 6 m in height, rarely reaching 8 m in height when in the middle of the forest. Fruits from March to June. The fruits have a bitter taste, not pleasing to all palates. The best way to consume it is in the form of guava-like sweets and they are very interesting . It is a small tree that should do very well for container growers! Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
