Pourouma cecropiifolia, commonly called caimarón or uvilla, is a species of fruit tree native to the Amazon rainforest (northern Bolivia, western Brazil, southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru, southern Venezuela). It is 12 to 15 m high. The trunk is cylindrical, thin, with crown, gray bark provided with rings. Its leaves are alternate, deeply lobed, compound, with 9–11 leaflets 10–20 cm × 2.5–4 cm, and a petiole 20 cm long. Flowers white, produced 20 or more together in an inflorescence 10 cm long; The peel is green when formed, turns violet when ripe and comes off easily; The pulp is whitish, sweet and juicy and wraps a seed. In addition to water, it contains phosphorus, potassium and small amounts of calcium, iron, sodium, vitamins B and C and fat. It is consumed directly as fruit or used in the preparation of soft drinks or in the manufacture of nectars, jellies, jams and wine. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
