sold out

Eugenia sprengelii is an evergreen shrub or tree with a dense, pyramidal crown; it can grow up to 6 meters tall. The bole is generally crooked, around 15 - 25cm in diameter. The plant is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of wood. Very ornamental, but rarely used in the garden because of its slow growth. It is sometimes grown for topiary and is also grown in pots as an indoor plant. It produces a small berry, which are eaten raw. It has a succulent, sweetish pulp. The fruits are reddish to purple, globose, and is up to 9mm in diameter, containing a single seed.
