Eugenia Delicata - GERMINATED

$50.00
sold out

Seeds were imported from Brazil and will arrive to you germinated and ready to plant. This is a recently published specie of Eugenia found in the Atlantic Forest. The tree found and recorded was 12 m tall and c. 25 cm diam. The trunk has bark brownish grey, longitudinally fissured and detaching as slightly thick, often rectangular plates. This specie has been found in six sites that are assumed to be five distinct locations. Although the species occurs within protected areas, a continuing decline of the population of this specie can be inferred in the area, extent and/or quality of habitat, since its occurrence points are threatened mainly by urban expansion and fire incidence. The quality of this fruit is supposed to be amazing. Someone who tried it said It was very sweet, juicy, with no astringency. This is a must have Eugenia for any collector. More about this specie can be found here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/367805097_Two_new_species_of_Eugenia_Myrtaceae_from_the_Brazilian_Atlantic_Forest
