Eugenia cf Ayacuchae

$8.00
sold out

Seeds were imported from Brazil. This is a rare Eugenia found in Bahia. It was found growing at only 3 meters, so it should do well in a container long term. The plant was fruiting prolifically. It produces green fruits at first, which turn yellow, and then red when full ripe. It produces a round smooth berry containing a single seed, and a good amount of sweet juicy yellow pulp. The skin on this fruit is edible, but it is a little astringent. But you can easily eat the flesh without consuming the skin, as the flesh is said to break away sort of like a Jaboticaba when ripe. Seeds are viable and limited, will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
