Seeds were imported from Brazil and are germinated. This is a scandent shrub with woody and robust foliage. It is native to thee Cerrado, and the seasonal semideciduous forest from Espirito Santa and Minas Gerais. This is not a cultivated tree, nor is it found frequently in its natural habitat. The shrub/vine will fruit in clusters, creating fruits 1.5 to 2.3 cm in diameter, that are oval-shaped berries> The fruits are black or violet in color, globose or slightly oblong, with thin and smooth skin, fleshy pulp, and a sweet-acidic flavor. They are appreciated because of the similarity of their flavor with jabuticaba or grapes. Seeds are viable and will arrive germinated in humid vermiculite.
