Salacia sp. “fruto vermelho” is a rare and little-known tropical fruiting species found in Bahia, Brazil, where it grows in warm Atlantic Forest conditions. The observed trees reach approximately 6–7 meters in height, forming a small to medium-sized canopy tree with dense, tropical foliage typical of the Salacia genus. It is considered uncommon in cultivation and is primarily known from limited wild collections.
The plant produces distinctive red fruits that stand out clearly against the greenery. These fruits are edible and pleasantly sweet, making them enjoyable to eat fresh out of hand. Although still rare and not widely studied in cultivation, this Salacia selection is of growing interest to tropical fruit collectors for its flavor, ornamental fruit color, and manageable tree size.
Seeds are shipped in packs of 1, shipped in humid vermiculite.
