Pouteria sp. 'Madruno' - GERMINATED

$10.00

Pouteria sp. 'Madruno' is a rare and little-known fruiting tree from the coastal regions of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The species remains scientifically undescribed, and it is still unclear whether it represents an entirely new species or an exceptionally rare and obscure member of the Pouteria genus. The tree produces small, round fruits about the size of a golf ball—or slightly larger—with a bright orange, bumpy skin. Inside, the fruit contains a generous amount of sweet, creamy pulp with a flavor reminiscent of abiu (Pouteria caimito), making it especially appealing to fruit enthusiasts and collectors.

This small to medium-sized tree is well suited to home orchards and tropical gardens. It naturally grows in sandy coastal ecosystems known as “restinga,” which makes it particularly tolerant of sandy soils and resilient against salty sea winds. These traits make Pouteria sp. 'Madruno' an excellent candidate for coastal planting and cultivation in similar environments. Its unique fruit, abundant flesh, and adaptability further enhance its desirability, especially among growers interested in rare and underappreciated tropical species.

This is price is for a single seed. They will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
