Eugenia sp. “Tijuca”
Eugenia sp. “Tijuca” is a rare and likely undescribed species discovered in the Tijuca Forest region of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This small, compact tree grows between 2 and 3 meters tall and features large, glossy leaves that contrast beautifully with its sizable fruits. While the fruit was not fully ripe at the time of collection and couldn't be tasted, it showed large seeds and relatively little pulp—though its full potential is yet to be discovered. Native to a lush, Atlantic Forest environment, this species is adapted to warm, humid conditions and performs best in tropical to subtropical climates comparable to USDA zones 10–11.
