Seeds were imported from Brazil. This Eugenia variety, discovered in the southern region of São Paulo State, features a distinctive red trunk and round leaves. Its fruit, with black skin and white pulp, is exceptionally sweet and lacks any astringency. Unlike Eugenia candolleana, which typically flowers and bears fruit within three years, this plant took a full decade to do so after being purchased from the countryside. Interestingly, two Brazilian fruit collectors we know consider this Eugenia even superior to Jaboticaba. Seeds are germinated and shipped in humid vermiculite.
