Eugenia spp Ecuador

$10.00
sold out

Seeds were imported from Brazil. Native to the understory of the Amazon mountain range and the Andean forests of Ecuador, this species can also be found in the state of Acre, Brazil. It closely resembles the araçá boi (Eugenia stipitata), though it is slightly smaller with smaller seeds and orange pulp that is less acidic. This medium-sized tree can be cultivated similarly to araçá boi and is easy to grow, with resistance to low temperatures down to -1°C. It thrives in altitudes over 500 meters and prefers deep, moist, neutral soils with a sandy or clay composition. The tree can be planted in either well-drained or more humid soils and is well-suited for large pots. Seeds are germinating and shipped in humid vermiculite.
