Seeds were imported from Brazil. Duguetia echinophora is an elegant-looking slow-growing evergreen tree from the Annonaceae family, native to Brazil. It normally reaching a height of 15 - 20 meters and rarely grows like a shrub, the tree prefers well drained sandy soil for a better growth. The edible fruit is gathered from the wild for local use. Fruit green when young, red at maturity with an orange edible pulp. it is said to be one of the best tasting Duguetia. The fibreless orange flesh is very creamy and taste is a mix of Annona squamosa and Cantaloupe melon. Tree starts to bear after 5 years from seed. This is a very rare specie, and hard to source.
