The plant pictured is similar to the one you will receive. Bapeba is an evergreen tree with a dense, globose crown It grows 8 - 20 meters tall with a straight, cylindrical bole 25 - 45cm in diameter. The edible fruit is sometimes gathered from the wild for local use, though it is not widely appreciated. An ornamental plant, it has been recommended for landscaping. Present information suggests that this species is confined to Linhares Forest Reserve. The plant is classified as 'Critically Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2011) IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. This is a strange and very rare sapote having knobby, almost ugly fruits that ripen green and brown. Pulp is orange-tan in color, with a mildly sweet flavor.
