Eugenia Stigmatosa

$24.00

We typically gather, pack, and ship plants over the weekend. If your order includes plants, please expect a slightly longer processing time. Shipping will usually occur the following Monday or Tuesday after your purchase date. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Quantity: 1 plant

Container: 4X4X6 Container

A rare Eugenia from the Atlantic forests of Brazil. Bears small, red skinned fruits with edible pulp and a large seed. Flavor is said to be likened to a Perfume Guava, but with unique overtones. Grows on a small, shrubby tree to 6-15 ft / 2-5 m. Unknown, though likely minimal frost tolerance. The trunk is dark brown in color with a bark that comes off in thin sheets. The crown is irregular and open, with very flexible branches. The plant is easily identified by observing the leaf against the sun, when the numerous glandular punctuations are easily noticed. The leaves are uneven in size and leathery in texture (hard as leather), light green on the upper side and opaque and full of glands on the underside. It has a lanceolate elliptical shape (narrow and lance-shaped), measuring 3.5 to 8 cm long and 1.4 to 3.5 cm wide, with a wedge-shaped base and acuminate apex (with a long tip) . The flowers are axillary and are born singly or in fascicles (bundles or groups) with 3 to 5 white flowers of 1 cm in diameter when opened.

The plants photographed are similar to the one you will receive. Typically the largest plants available will be shipped out first.
