Seeds were imported from Brazil. Annona Emarginata is a small, deciduous tree with a wide, spreading, dense crown; usually growing no larger than 3 meters tall. The short bole can be 15 - 25cm in diameter. The edible fruit is usually gathered from the wild for local use. The tree is occasionally cultivated for its fruit within its native range and also in the Philippines. It is also sometimes grown as an ornamental. A succulent, sweet pulp with a pleasant flavor. There is only a small amount of edible pulp in each fruit and it is difficult to separate from the seed. The fruit is up to 3cm in diameter. The fruit can vary considerably in size and amount of edible pulp, with some forms up to 6cm in diameter. The photo of the tree is from the farm of Joe Hewitt in Hawaii.
