Seeds were imported from Brazil. Pindaiba is a slow-growing evergreen tree with a globose, dense crown, that can reach a height of 15 - 20 meters. The cylindrical bole is 40 - 60cm in diameter. It has an edible fruit that is gathered from the wild and eaten locally. An elegant-looking tree, it can be use in landscape gardening. The fruit is consumed out of hand, and is around 9cm in diameter containing a succulent pulp with a sweet flavor.
